Gas sensors developer Alphasense has introduced what’s said to be the world’s first galvanic lead-free oxygen sensor (O2-A2-GLF) for industrial safety applications.

The O2-A2-GLF sensor is engineered as a direct replacement for existing two-pin oxygen sensors used in portable and fixed gas instruments. It is designed to deliver reliable performance in demanding industrial environments, maintaining accuracy during variations in pressure and temperature. This makes it ideal for critical safety applications where durability and robustness are vital.

“This development provides instrument manufacturers with a practical solution to meet evolving environmental regulations, including the anticipated expiration of RoHS exemptions in 2027,” said Ronan Baron, Technology Director at Alphasense. “The sensor offers proven accuracy, fast response time, and 2-year operational life under typical industrial conditions, making it ideal for safety and industrial applications. This new sensor is a drop-in replacement for any A-sized lead-based safety oxygen sensor including Alphasense’s industry standard O2-A2 oxygen sensors.”

Key features & benefits:
• Lead-Free: Patent-pending technology delivers a RoHS-compliant solution, eliminating toxic lead and supporting environmental responsibility.
• Leak-Free: Built on Alphasense’s proven, patent-pending design platform for continuous, reliable performance without electrolyte leaks.
• Easy Integration: Drop-in replacement for traditional lead-based, 2-pin, zero-bias safety oxygen sensors. Backed by 30 years of expertise, Alphasense’s new O2-A2-GLF oxygen sensor ensures easy adoption, worker safety and reliability.

The O2-A2-GLF oxygen sensors are now available worldwide. For more information, contact Product Manager Todd Hardwick [email protected]
